Mylau Castle Museum

Travel to the Middle Ages and back again in one day. The focus is on Mylau Castle and the everyday life of its inhabitants around the year 1400.

Contents: Everyday life in the medieval castle of Mylau, the life of knights, painting your own shield with a coat of arms
Age: Class 1 – 4
Duration: Full day programme (5 hours)
Costs: 10€ per Child
Subjects: General studies, art, maths

We summarise the milestones in the castle's history and learn about all the functions that Mylau Castle has had over the past 800 years. We then explore the components that make up a castle and take a look inside the otherwise closed rooms. The life of the people behind the mighty walls is also illuminated. After a "medieval" snack, everything revolves around the most famous inhabitants of the castle - the knights. We try on a suit of armour and chain mail and invent our own coat of arms. This coat of arms is painted on a shield according to the rules of heraldry and now accompanies the modern knights through their everyday lives.
