From 2021 to 2023, we will explore the world's flora and fauna together and develop new animals that no one has ever seen before, but which would still be viable. Our large natural history collection provides ideas for these new creatures. The new discoveries are documented in the tradition of medieval bestiaries and early scientific illustrations. They are drawn under artistic guidance and described together with a biologist. The new life forms can be marvelled at in a public exhibition. The three-year project will culminate in the publication of the book "The Bestiary of Mylau Castle."

"The Bestiary of Mylau Castle" is supported by the German Museums Association as part of the "Museum macht stark" programme and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The aim of the project is to familiarise children and young people who have little contact with museums at home with what this public institution has to offer.
