You can collect anything: Milk teeth, stamps or cars. But why do museums collect? What do they do with the things they collect? Why do people sometimes wear white gloves in museums? What is a hygrometer or a magazine? We explore all these questions about museums together. During the project time, the pupils deal with an object of their choice in class. They work out what exciting things there are to say about it and why it should be kept. During the museum visit, everyone is allowed to go "backstage", where almost nobody else gets to go, culminating in the design and opening of an exhibition in the museum.
"Backstage Museum" is funded by the Vogtland-Zwickau cultural region as part of the „Museum meets school“ model project. The aim of the project is to increase the mobility and accessibility of cultural education programmes in rural areas and to contribute to sustainable encounters between museums and schools.
You can find virtual content for "backstage Museum" under Museum meets digital!
